If you are unhappy with MySpace Profile 2.0, you can always switch back to MySpace Profile 1.0
Instruction:
- Click Customize Profile in Profile tab on top.
- Click Go Back to Profile 1.0 on the very top.
- Click Switch to Profile 1.0 button.

What happens is when u see the go back to profile 1.0 don’t click on publish click where it says go back and then its going to ask u if u are sure just keep clicking on switch and that you are sure and it will change it….

[[ YOU MITE WANNA WRITE THIS DOWN..]]okay maybe i can be sum help… This is wat you do if you want to go back to 1.0… alrite now the steps that is already posted up there is gonna be sum help… First, go to your home page and once your there, click on customize profile [ as seen above in step 1] and once you do dat your gonna be on your PAGE.. and once you get on there.. go up to the top.. over on the right side of your PAGE [ and up there, it will have a gray arrow pointing to the left.. as seen up there in step 2... and everything that you see in step 2 will be just how it is on your page... except the gray arrow will jus say GO BACK... not go back to profile 1.0.. so please dont get confused on that] but when you see that up there … go ahead and click on it… [ and a box will come on the screen and it wil say.. START FROM SCRATCH or SWITCH TO PROFILE 1.0.. and you will select SWITCH TO PROFILE 1.0 as shown in step 3… and you should switch back to you normal profile…so i really hope this helped yall out… cuz it has jus helped me out… alot.. lol.. but sorry it was alot to read..

Ok. Let me clarify this for everyone here. This people are going the right place, just as I am. I’ve used this feature on my older profile when I checked and realized how horrible 2.0 looks when it first came out. It seems (since I just created a new profile.), that the newer profiles now don’t have the profile 1.0 option at all!!!
Which is f*cking atrocious considering 1.0 is MUCH better than 2.0. I can’t believe they would even consider removing the 1.0 feature for newer myspace users, or as in my case, older users trying to make an additional myspace.
We either need to start messaging Tom and complaining (which will eventually get it fixed). Or someone needs to figure out another way to revert back to 1.0. Because this is complete bs.
I’ll be sure to reply here if I find another way for the rest of us to go back 1.0.
One more thing
Where it says Start From Scratch and Switch Back To Profile 1.0, there IS NO 1.0 on the right side. Only Start From Scratch on the left.

I followed the directions but at no point does it give me the option to switch back.
I go to “customize profile”, then upper right shows “go back”, which only offers me the “start from scratch” option, which does not bring back 1.0.

I had a different page a while back and was able to try 2.0 and revert back with no hassle. Something has changed, not in a good way.

OMG! I hate 2.0! Tom needs to hear what his USERS say, and people who are just commenting him for fun their comments should be deleted, and use that space for people who have realy questions. i emailed myspace ’support’ and they said that if you signed up for a new myspace, you won’t have the option of switching back to profile 1.0, you’re just stuck with it but if you signed up for myspace before the release of the profile 2.0 then you can have the option to choose between profile 1.0 and profile 2.0.
i guess there is nothing we can do about this.
i’m trying to cope with it here, i mean profile 2.0 isn’t SO bad but profile 1.0 is most definitely better and i’m going to miss it (since i got a new myspace..)
i went to the go back. it came up this:

You can reset all modules, the page theme, and the layout to look like a standard profile by clicking “Start from scratch”. This is how Tom’s profile looks.
and then it took me to this:
this will give you the default theme, layout, modules.
and then to hit the Start from scratch button but it does nothing.

I must tell you all that ‘Myspace Nerd’ is correct. I opened up an account and there is no option to go back and there isn’t even an option stating if you even want 2.0 in the first place.
They are phasing 1.0 out. I am not exactly sure if older users can change back. Judging by this blog they can, for how long, I don’t know.
The only advice I can give to anyone is that if it is giving you an option to go back
DO NOT CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT
(if you possibly can) or you will be like all of us new account holders and be stuck using the
‘New and Unimproved’ Myspace Profile Editor 2.0.

I have made a MySpace for my modeling stuff and the layout is so bad, I know what the 1.0 version is like and I want that one but it stays on 2.0 and when I press ‘go back’ it only says ’star for scratch’ and I hate it! It seems that it temporarily worked on the 15th. It worked for Alexa and Mike both on April 15th. I strongly urge you all to check every single day to see if it works. You do NOT want to miss your chance to switch back. Wish you luck.

Ok here is the deal everyone I just got a reply from Myspace on this 2>0 crap . If you made a new account as of April 1st you are stuck with 2.0 no matter what you do period. 1.0 will be phased out completely as soon as you change over or your account gets deleted you will NOT have 1>0 again.As much as all dont like it your stuck with it I HATE it Im going to Friendster as is so many others cause of it.

I have 2 profiles one I had established before profile 2.0 was launched and following the steps above I was able to switch back to 1.0 but the 2nd profile was made after 2.o was launched and when I click on the go back button for it it only comes up with a singular option “start from scratch.” is reverting your profile to 1.0 only an option for those of us that actually had a profile that at some point was in 1.0??

Apparently, if you created your profile before April 2, 2009 you have the option to go back to 1.0 but if not, you can’t.. I just learnt this. I hate the 2.0..you can’t save anyone into ‘favorites’ like you could before unless I’m just not seeing the area to do this…if anyone knows how, please let me know…thanks

One thing i think everyone seems to be missing is the fact that the option to switch back to 1.0 was only available for 90 days. I was able to switch back with no problems during that period but it’s been over the 90 day period and now I’m screwed because I’m tired of 2.0 and want to switch back and can’t. Anyway…that’s the reason why the “Go Back” option doesn’t work…..your simply past your 90 day period.

here’s a trick to get a 1.0 profile even if you have a NEW 2.0 account defaulted w/ the “go back” no longer available:
create a new blog entry (doesn’t matter how long)
post your new blog
go to customize profile
at the top click the “go back” button
the 1.0 option will be there.

However, there is a solution to this
To switch back to Profile 1.0
Post a new blog with any Subject and Body
Now click ‘Customize Profile’ from the drop
down list when you hoover over ‘Profile’
Then click ‘Go Back’ in the top right
like you normally would, now you
have the option to Switch to Profile 1.0

then in the right hand corner of that page there’s an arrow and next to it, it says
go back to profile 1.0
and tada! TOO BAD IT DOESN’T WORK!!
After 02APR09 the above instructions were made defunct, below is a work-around that ive found… hope it helps step by step instructions… make sure you follow em exactly
1: navigate to the customize profile page by clicking Profile -> Customize Profile
2: highlight and cut the URL out of your navigation bar if you want you can paste in
notepad
3: exit the customizer and choose Profile -> My Blog
4: Choose “Post New Blog”
5: type whatever you want as the subject and the body it really does not matter
6:Choose “Preview and post” button
7:on this page Choose “Post” button
8:Notice how on this page there is no link bar? thats why you cut the URL earlier…
without clicking any link on this page paste the URL into your address bar and hit
enter
9:Click ‘go back’. Then it will say ’start from scratch’ OR ’switch to Profile 1.0′.

ok everyone if you don’t have a go back button it’s because your old myspace page expired. it only gives you a certain amount of time to change your mind to keep or stay with the 2.0, and yes it was a very bad page program.i didn’t like it either. so you may have to start allllll over to go back to the 1.0 version.peace out people.

after april 3 or 4, you can’t change myspace back to 1.0 it won’t work, they took it offf. so if your trying to do that if you made your myspace after that date, stop. you have to use 2.0

ok so i go to customize my profile…then i click on go back(it does not say go back to profile 1.0) then it says start from scratch so i lick on that then it says start from scratch or cancel..it does not give me the option to go back to my 1.0 profile. so someone please tell me what to do! b/c the directions it shows on top of this page on how to go back to your original 1.0 profile is that what shows up when you go to change your profile.

Then, the “Customize Profile” window should change

You follow the steps this person gave you, yes, but when it doesn’t show you any results, go ‘home.’ After going ‘Home’, go to ‘blog’. From there, you post a random blog. No lie, just… post a random-ass blog. Then, go back and repeat the steps this tutorial shows you. Except now the option should be there. Click it, and wala. It sounds weird, yes, but it works. I’ve done it many times over.

Why doesn’t myspace have the 1.0 option anymore. The 1.0 Profile was better, the 2.0 is so confusing, and i thinks it’s also dumb (no offense to the people like 2.0). But i don’t care about the modules or those other things on 2.0. Myspace should keep the option for 1.0. I create a lot of fansites and it’s annoying to keep having to change back to 1.0 and i want 1.0.

In your 2.0 profile, go to blog/manage blog. Go to Post New Blog. In the subject line, type the word TEST. In the body type the word TEXT. Scroll down to preview & post. Hit it. Go back to customize profile, and hit GO BACK. There, you will have the option to choose from 2 options. If it doesn’t work, then you should NOT have a computer!

Alright, I did it all step by step and it worked. I made the account yesterday, so this after April first or second deal isn’t true. It can still be changed from a 2.0 to a 1.0 and it’s easy.
Anyway, simply make a blog and post it. Make sure the blog is actually posted and not just showing up as a preview so once it’s posted and all. Then follow the steps and everything should work smoothly. Then, just never upgrade back to 2.0 and your free. You might need to make a second blog, but they can be deleted after the change is made, So, enjoy.

If you can’t switch to profile 1.0 try this. Post a blog first then try those steps again. It worked for me.

It’s annoying how were having no choice but to use profile 2.0 now. I hope Tom does something about it.
I know a solution!
Here’s how to REALLY change back to 1.0.
You go to manage blogs, and you post a new blog. You put “test” (without the quotations) as the subject and “test” as the body.
After you post it, THEN you go to customize profile, push the ‘go back to 1.0′ button, and there right by the start from scratch button, should be the Switch back to 1.0.

Here it is to switch bak to 1.0 even if its a new account!
1.Login to your new myspace account and click on Home in the top menu.
2.Click on Manage Blogs on the left and post a new blog. (I realize this sounds odd, but it really works) Just enter anything into the blog post, it doesn’t matter, you can write “Test Blog” if you want. Enter some text in the blog subject and blog bodytext area.
3.Click Preview & then click Post.
4.Once you post the test blog, click on PROFILE in the top menu and then click Customize Profile in the drop-down menu.
5.Click on the Go Back button on the top right and a box will show up with 2 choices: “Start from Scratch” and “Switch to Profile 1.0″
6.Click “Switch to Profile 1.0″ and you should be switched back.

OK SO I BEEN READING ALL THESE COMMENTS AND I SEE U ARE ALL PISSED ON THIS NOT WORKING. SO I FIGURED I’D HELP U GUYS OUT WITH THE RIGHT WAY TO DO IT THAT WILL WORK1. First go to Manage Blog from your Myspace home.
2. Look at My Controls and create New Blog Entry.
3. Fill Subject and Body with any text then click on Preview and Post.
4. Confirm blog posting by clicking Post.
5. Go back to your Home page or Profile then go to Customize Profile, At the top click on Go Back.
6. Click on Switch Profile 1.0 now you are done.
it will then convert itself back to 1.0!!!!!!! your welcome =)

To switch back to 1.0, here’s what you do:
log into MySpace
mouse over Profile (in the upper nav bar) and choose Customize Profile (from the drop-down menu)
if you’re using profile 2.0, you’ll see Profile 2.0 - Customize Profile (on the top left corner of the page) and Go Back (on the top right corner of the page to the left of Control Panel)
click Go Back and choose whether you want to redesign your entire 2.0 Profile from scratch or Switch to Profile 1.0 (on the pop-up)
click Confirm and you’re done!

You can NOT switch back to profile 1.0 for the following reasons:
- You created your account after April 2nd 2009 or
- You have switched to profile 2.0 for longer than 90 days, after which your old profile gets thrown out and you’re stuck with 2.0

I agree with all of you…I’ve switched it over to 2.0 as well to check it out a long time ago, then changed it back to 1.0. then I switched it to show someone that’s new to myspace how it get started because they had the 2.0 verson so I helped them out with it. It can work. I made a myspace in mid-late april, AFTER the time when your given the option to switch back. I was stuck with profile 2.0 for ages. But for some reason after a week or two of editting my page and stuff I got the option to actually go back to 1.0, which I did. Since then my account has been hacked so I’m gonna have to make a new one. Hopefully the same will happen this time :/

Ok so I’ve had my profile for a while now. Maybe about five years and just switch over to this crap profile 2.0 and it won’t let me go back. So this whole myspace thing is really F-UP. there should be a law for liars because Myspace techs are liars when they say you can switch back if you had a myspace acccount before the change. I swear this is complete bull shit. There was absolutely no point of ever creating 2.0; hardly ANYONE I know uses it. I tried messaging Tom about making it to where every user can use it, but when I clicked send Tom dissappeared from the To: section and told me that he only accepts emails from users who are his friends. For everybody who is freaking out and acting like it’s the end of the world because you can’t customize your page:
YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE YOUR PAGE. Just like you could before in Profile 1.0. If you actually take the time to understand how CSS works, you can do anything you want to your page. Yeah, the editing process is a little bit different now but it’s totally possible. It actually makes way more sense now. They couldn’t of made it any easier. There’s a CSS tab right there for everybody to use.
Switching over to 2.0 only is a good thing. If anything, it opens up more possibilities. You guys are just too scared of change and to actually take some time to learn something.

if you read the fine print when originally trying to change to 2.0, it says it only gives you 90 days from the time of switching to 2.0, to go back to 1.0.

if you went over that there’s really no way to get your old profile back.

As of April 2nd, Tom and the myspace crew made all NEW myspace profiles have a 2.0 layout. They removed the option to switch back to the 1.0 layout. This is a ridiculous move on the part of myspace and I believe that the option to have a 1.0 profile should still be there. Myspace separates itself from Facebook because with profile 1.0, you can make beautiful DIV overlays or otherwise lovely layouts using HTML. For those of us who are skilled in HTML, it is frustrating that with 2.0 you cannot edit the HTML other than moving a module around. To those that are unfamiliar with HTML and like the easy use of profile 2.0, that’s fine. But myspace should at least provide the CHOICE of having either 1.0 or 2.0 and not FORCE new members to stick with 2.0. We’re not asking for much–only for the option to switch back to 1.0 to be returned.

Mmkay, so I think what you do is go to make a blog and when you push preview dont post it. then click the go back button and go to customize and try the button again, i dont remember if this is how you exactly do it but i think it works.

Look for those of you who can’t revert back to 1.0..Here’s what you do…Go to page themes on your main page..Then on the left hand side there you should see classic view..It took me weeks to figure it out but i got it so i really hope it helps you out.

I made my myspace account after april 2009. I made it in May 2009. Personally, I got wise and realized that Tom and the people of Myspace.com are complete morons in not giving the people what they want. What I really did was, I deleted my sub-normal Profile 2.0 account that was forced upon me, and went back and created a Music Myspace page (which still runs Profile 1.0 and then from there you just have to get rid of the music player. As an added bonus, I learned from playing in a band that changed names a couple of times back in the day that you can also change your URL on a Music Myspace page as many times as you want. Good luck folks.

had turned green. And it FINALLY let me switch back.
Then I got lazy with the codes and switched back to 2.0.
Now, I want 1.0, AGAIN. But I’m just going to keep trying and trying
until the arrow turns green again.
So, if you really want 1.0, just keep trying,
and eventually it’ll let you switch.
Unless you signed up for a newer myspace.

Dudes,if you signed up for it AFTER April 1st,2009 then it will never let you switch back or switch to profile 1.0….but if you didn’t,heres what you do and i know its right cause it helped myself. 1.)Log in to myspace, 2.) Go under the PROFILE (DROP DOWN) and click CUSTOMIZE PROFILE, 3.) Up there it will have a GRAY ARROW, 4.) Click on it, 5.) It will say go back…not go back to profile 1.0 but it will say go back, 6.) Click on it, 7.) It will say start from scratch,or it will say go back to profile 1.0, 8.) Click go back to profile 1.0, 9.) Click customize, 10.) There you are….it will let you start designing your new profile 1.0….:)

Apparently when 2.0 came out it gave all users 90 days to choose what profile they wanted. APPARENTLY after those 90 days you no longer get the option to go back to 1.0 unless you already HAD it and never changed it to 2.0.
SO APPARENTLY if you had 1.0 before the cut off date and then switch to 2.0 AFTER the cut off date then you will not get 1.0 BACK unless you follow these instructions

Okay so if you dont have 2 options saying start from scratch and switch to profile 1.0 its because you opened up a myspace account after April 1, 2009. So you cannot switch back at all. I’m pissed myself because i cant switch back. :( lol hope it helped. yes Tom needs to FIX IT!

I was looking into a way of getting Myspace 1.0 back for us users of myspace that recently had to make new accounts. This is what Tom sent me:
“If you’ve upgraded to 2.0 and you wish to return to profile 1.0, you can switch back for up to 7 days.
One important caveat: If you signed up for MySpace after April 1, 2009, you are automatically using profile 2.0, which offers advanced design and privacy functions. You cannot switch to profile 1.0.
To switch back to 1.0, here’s what you do:
1. log into MySpace
2. mouse over Profile (in the upper nav bar) and choose Customize Profile (from the drop-down menu)
3. if you’re using profile 2.0, you’ll see Profile 2.0 - Customize Profile (on the top left corner of the page) and Go Back to Profile 1.0 (on the top right corner of the page, just left of Control Panel)

Attention: 1.0 is history, there is no going back, however, they have moved the CSS functionality from the About Me section of Edit Profile, to the Appearance section of Customize Profile in 2.0.
Click - Profile/Customize Profile/Appearance/CSS
Paste your CSS code from Webfetti, MyspaceLayouts, PimpMyProfile, etc. into the CSS box and click preview and/or publish.
Another advantage to using 2.0, is that you can customize the layout for each module, header, and content, etc. without having to learn HTML in the process. (example; use a different background picture for each item as well as the whole page)

Listen kids, you can no longer go back to 1.0 if you created after April 2009 and/or have been on 2.0 for more than 7 days. I suspect pretty soon, they will force people to switch.
I personally like 2.0 but of course I’m a very creative person [not saying anyone isn't] and I’ve learned the coding and learned how to make div layouts. Of course I suspect not many people like change, most like the same exact thing and normally so do I. In these cases though, I like something that’s new and different since any profile on 1.0 [div or not] is not really unique or special anymore since I’ve seen it all before.

People! 1.0 has never changed if you created your myspace too late then while you were creating it a thing should of came up on you screen saying go 1.0 or go 2.0 even now it should work! And if you made a 1.0 profile early enough to get it and you switched over all you have to do is NOT to go to customize profile its to go to edit profile and under where is says home, mail, profile and etc..you should see account settings next to view my profile and when you click account settings you should see a row of links and click on spam and go down to see fill in the bubbles and click out 2.0 and click in 1.0 then press save all changes. And its proven to work..Good luck.

ya for everyone who comes to this site myspace has changed the program, there is no longer a “go back to profile 1.0″ button it is now “revert to old profile” and myspace has compleetly gotter rid of profile 1.0 if you want to revert just to use a 1.0 profile layout add “” at the begining of all the subsections in the “advanced edit” section

yUP tRINa - New profiles aren’t allowed to go to 1.0 now. I don’t know what the “cut off” date was, but I set up a second profile Thursday and went to go back to 1.0 because I wanted to have the old private look wher just shows your picture instead of all this new b.s. and it won’t let me.

Myspace doesn’t allow that glitch any more they fixed it up so it doesn’t happen you can even search it up on youtube most of the world already knows… This page needs to be erased cause it’s not gonna work for any one any more, thus more people are gonna get upset and disappointed.

well i just figured out how to make my profile private in 2.0 version. click on customize profile… then look for modules. when u click on it, scroll down your profile page as if you wanted to move around modules. when u click on a certain section, for example your comments you will see that a small toolbar will appear at the top. it gives u the option of editing and this is where u can make the changes u want such as privacy in my case. dont forget to click on publish when ur done.

I WORKED IT OUT!!!! When you click on the ‘Customize profile’ … It will take you back to your page… once you are there…do the following…
1. Look in the customisation box (the one that gives you all your options)
You will find a RESET button…. push it…. it will come up with REVERT TO OLD PROFILE or something like that… PRESS IT and WALA!!!!

Tom signed mypace over. If making a new myspace, it starts as 2.0 and you can NOT change it, and after switching from 1.0 to 2.0 after 90 days you can NOT change it. None of the ways work, and there is no way that will work. When it just says ‘Start from scratch,’ and nothing else, that means you will NEVER be able to go back to 1.0 on myspace.

You can go back if you are an old myspace user and previously had 1 1.0 profile.

1. If you dont have the go back option visible and have ie 8 select the ie menu option “View” and then select “No Style”
2. Edit your profile
3. Go to the very bottom of your page
4. Choose the option to revert back
go to what it says then when you get to were all the layouts are to to reset it will ask you if you and to go back to the old page put yes and there you go.

HOW to get my MySpace profiles back so they display like they did back in mid 2000’s when I spent weeks on them? Everything on one profile I did the capsha and saved each category as I saw the css in the box but all was crammed over on the left side of the page. Opera and Chrome both. I have windows 7. after saving each category, no difference..still the white page under view my profile, with nothing on it and no contact information by the way, to MySpace and no answers forthcoming. This is not right to change things like this after one does a lot of hard work on a site. Not here for friends, was here learning on my own time in my own way, how to code and lay out my chosen pictures and text to my liking just for my pleasure and yes, therapy for my disabilities; I am only 60 but have been disabled for 10 years mostly bedridden so working on graphics has slowly become my life. MySpace, I used others’ graphics. the website above, my work, my photos. Used up my alloted space on http://www.my.space.com/ICU109 so I couldn’t add more albums but had over 70 full of pictures and composites that I had blended with PaintDotNet. I’m going to try a brand new fresh MySpace and see if I can code it so it shows up right, or rather, at all. if not, I’m deleting all my MySpace sites and i had several. I AM NOT HAPPY.
